Give The Devil His Due (Batesville Cut) 2015 was produced as a micro-budget Southern gothic short film, born out of a deep love for storytelling, legacy, and the question of what we trade for success.

Filming took place primarily in Roberts and Red Lodge, Montana, with one iconic scene - the holding hands dance in the streets - shot in downtown Portland, Oregon. Cast and crew traveled nearly 900 miles from Portland to Red Lodge to bring the story to life, with lead actress Emma Lou flying in from Honolulu, Hawaii to portray Michelle.

Working with a $10,000 budget and going over by just $368, the production became a testament to what can be achieved with passion, preparation, and a spirit of collaboration. Every mile traveled and a spirit of collaboration. Every mile traveled and every moment on set reflected the heart hehind this story - a team of family, friends, and creatives committed to making something meaningful.

About the Project

Give The Devil His Due is a Southern gothic short film born out of a deep love for story, legacy, and the timeless question of what we trade for success.

Filmed on location in Robert and Red Lodge, Montana, with a key scene in downtown Portland, Oregon, the project was essentially a proving ground - a proof of concept built not on scale, but of soul. Every frame, every mile, and every moment on set reflects what can happen when resourcefulness meets vision.

This short film seen briefly in the Teaser, stands not only as a completed work - but as an open invitation: The team is capable. The next chapter only needs belief.

Give The Devil His Due is a haunting, Southern rooted short film that blends music, myth, and legacy into a story about ambition — and the hidden cost of chasing it. Set in the small towns of Courtland and Batesville, Mississippi, the story follows Johnny, a struggling blues guitarist whose hunger for recognition leads him to a crossroads — both literal and spiritual.
